Mr. Liu is the expert of the oilfield development, the professorate senior engineer.
Mr. Liu has worked as the chief engineer of oil extraction in Daqing Oilfield.
 
Mr. Liu has been done the pioneering research on mechanical oil extraction, water flooding extraction, heavy oil thermal recovery, and the oil extraction by injecting nitrogen. Mr. Liu founded the science of heavy oil thermal recovery in China, and built the lab of the heavy oil thermal recovery, initiated the science research of the heavy oil thermal recovery. Mr. Liu has been worked as the vice director of the leading unit of the research of the heavy oil thermal recovery technology.       
 
Mr. Liu is in charge the research and implement of the heavy oil thermal recovery  technology in national plan of "sixth five", "seventh five", and "eighth five", Mr. Liu also did the pioneering research about the technology of the multiple thermal fluid foam flooding to improve the recovery factor, This new technology has been put into the field application and achieved the good performance.
 
Mr. Liu achieved the first award of the national scientific and technical invention, the first award of national scientific and technical progress. He was also given the title of the expert with outstanding contribution and grand prize of China National Petroleum Corporation. Mr. Liu wrote and published more than 100 research papers and academic theses and 3 monographs. Mr. Liu enjoys 'the Special Government Allowance" of the State Council. Mr. Liu is also awarded the Contribution Prize of China-Canada technology cooperation from the Energy Ministry of Alberta, Canada.
